The original of this design was found on a large vessel in western Ukraine, Cucuteni 3800-3600 B.C.. In the center was a counter clockwise procession of animals depicting a dog, female/male goats, hind and a catepiller. Symbolically they are said to stimulate the motions of time. The 'V" shapes and crescents are symbols that represent the life cycle,i.e. birth/ death,death/ regeneration.
